In summer, however, this phenomenon can be a problem, as it causes excess heat. For this reason, the projection and height of the eaves were calculated in order to shade the glass in the summer months; if this is not enough, when the internal temperature exceeds certain values, an automatic mechanism   makes the curtains lower until the glass is shaded.

Solar power

The heat of the sun is the main source of energy for us.

In winter the windows are oriented so that they are hit as much as possible by the sun so as to favor the greenhouse effect , for which the heat enters and remains inside the house.

We have thermal solar panels and we are proud members of a consortium (CEIS) which in the valley connects photovoltaic and hydroelectric plants, thus giving us electricity at a good price and all from renewable sources.

To amplify the thermal stability, we have passed the air that we constantly bring inside the house, in a pipe over 100 m long, very large (40 cm in diameter) placed at a depth of 3-4 m.

The air on this journey warms up in winter and cools down in summer.

This system is called free-cooling.

Casariga is an underground structure, which means "underground".

This feature increases thermal stability so we have warmer in winter and cooler in summer as well as a leveling between day and night.

Geothermal : we have 4 100 m deep wells dug into the rock and through a heat pump we go to take heat from the earth and bring it into the house through a floor water system.

In the months of December and January, heating our apartment costs less than 1 euro per day.

The process works backwards in the summer; we take the heat away from the house and send it into the bowels of the earth.

We have a very high thermal insulation. The air exchange is constant and is regulated by the CO2 levels read in the various rooms; in winter the incoming air crosses in a heat exchanger with the outgoing one, recovering the heat with an efficiency of 90%.

This anti-dispersion system allows us in the middle of winter to maintain a temperature of 22 degrees in a room, only by exploiting the heat produced by the human bodies that inhabit it. All with always clean and oxygen-rich air.
